Government has identified Basketball as a PRIORITY mass participation sport, with “explosive” potential in this country.

Despite minimal support from media and sponsors, the facts are:

• In RSA, nine Provincial Associations are affiliated to BasketballSA.
  
• Basketball is an Olympic Sport representing significant untapped potential in a sport loving South Africa.
  
• The sport of Basketball has been entirely restructured with the full support of all macro structures (SRSA, SASCOC, BSA), with a view to launching the sport to its rightful place in South African Sport.
  
• During the period that South Africa had a Basketball National League, “BMI Sports Track” ranked Basketball as the fastest growing sport in South Africa.
  
• BNL has been identified by the sport’s macro structures as the key to success for Basketball in South Africa.
